Why do so many people appear as
"Living", with no details?
To protect the privacy of the living, we do not permit non-registered
users to view information linked to living persons.
Access to registration is restricted to members of our family. If you're
a member of our family tree and wish to research your ancestors, we'd
love to let you in. Please
register. Once registered, it may take a few hours or days for us
to activate your account. We may have questions as whom you are related
to or why you would want access.
Why do we do this? We monitor and review each registration to ensure
that only people with a legitimate interest in our family history are
granted access.
If you've already registered, please log
in to get the most out of your visit.
Hey! I'm a family member! Are
you broadcasting my personal info out on the internet? Who can see it?
Information related to living individuals is hidden from public view.
(See previous question for info on that!)
Most of the data here is public record. Data listed within this database
may include:
- Date of births (if known)
- Date of death (if known)
- Location of graves for our lost loved ones. (If known)
- Significant events (Mostly religious sacraments and graduations)
- Photos of family members both with us and long gone.
- Stories collected from our family members.
Most of this information is collected from public records. You could
obtain this with very little effort. What we have done here is simply
assembled this information into a format that makes it more accessible
and relevant to you.
This database does NOT list:
- Contact information (phone numbers, addresses, e-mail address, etc)
- Credit card information
- Employment history (Beyond general occupation, e.g."Carpenter"
or "Engineer")
- Personal id's for the living
Your personal privacy is extremely important to us.
As such, we simply must refuse access to anyone whom we cannot link to
our family. Information regarding living individuals is simply not available
to the public and will not ever be made so.
If you feel that you wish to be removed from this database, we will,
of course, honor your wishes and remove any identifiable information on
you from this system. We cannot, however, permit access to anyone who
is not listed within this database, as that might represent a conflct
of interest.
It is our sincerest hope that you will choose to participate in preserving
our family history for generations to come. Like all families, we risk
losing the stories and memories of our ancestors if there is no steward
to watch over them.
Does registration cost anything?
No. This site is not a pay or subscription site. There's
no gimmick. We simply have a passion for maintaining our family history
and are happy to share our history with the rest of our family (even those
distant relatives!)
If you'd like to help, see the paypal info below, or help grow this
database with knowledge. We would greatly appreciate any input you might
have, so don't hesitate to send us a suggestion
if/when you know details we don't have listed!
Will I receive "spam"
when I sign up?
No. We do not sell/distribute our registered users'
information, ever. We aren't in this for money. This is a resource for
our family and relatives. We keep this site here as a repository for family
stories and hope to have it here for generations to come and all to enjoy.
"Spam" just doesn't fit into that equation.
(If we were looking to make it rich, it wouldn't be with a family
tree website!)
You will be sent a confirmation e-mail from ivyhurst.com
when you register. (If you don't get that, please let us know!)
I wanna help! How can I help?
We can always use help, especially with folks listed in the Most
Wanted section of this site. Please check that out and let us know!
I'd like to donate some money
to help maintain this database. Can I?
OK, this isn't really a "frequent" question, but we thought
it worth mentioning...
This is not a business (or a non-profit, or a charity for that matter).
However, we do pay a monthly fee to keep this site going. (We're quite
happy to do so!) The fees aren't much and so we're happy to provide this
as a kind of gift to our families.
Still, if you're interested in chipping in a few bucks, we'll
accept it. You can donate to our upkeep costs using the PayPal link
on the right.
If Paypal's not your thing, that's OK. Contact
us if you're interested in becoming a finacial supporter of
this genealogy database and we'll work something out. |

We are not doing this for money and our costs are not high, so
big donations are not needed!
